Domestic Long Hair (long coat) Cat

Gia (3) the Cat needs a home

Meet Gia, our crazy red head and one of the prettiest girls in town.  Gia came to MetroWest three years ago after being found under a  porch scared and hungry.  Unfortunately, she also had a wound of unknown origin which mandated a six-month quarantine.  After finally becoming a free woman and moving her into a new bright and sunny room, we were able to spend more time to get to know this pretty lady.  Although she craved attention from all the volunteers, we found her to be somewhat irritable and, for some reason (that only she knew), would strike out.  Was it something in Gia's past or her long confinement in quarantine that caused her to be so unpredictable, but we were not going to give up on her.  Over the last few months, we have many volunteers working with Gia to make her more comfortable with her two-legged friends, and what a difference!  She welcomes you at the door with the big "Gia meow" and immediately jumps up on your lap for snuggle time, petting, brushing and then that purr machine starts going - a real lovebug!!  Gia still shows a little displeasure and will give you a simple whack on the arm and a big hiss, but shelter life has been tough on her and we think, once in a loving home, she will be the perfect gal.  She is just waiting for that special person to come along.  Gia is just over 8 years old now - a real youngster at heart.
